InstaFriday

I've seen a couple of blogs (grey luster girl & kidnapped by suburbia) link up to InstaFriday, so I figured I'd join in on the fun.  After all, I am constantly snapping pics of my kids, my day and life around us.  I don't know what I did before my EVO, oh wait, yes I do.  I rocked a pink flip phone for 3 years and it took me 5 years to type a text.  And seriously the conversations we had about actually getting smart phones, you would have thought it was some major life decisions, like having another kid or building a house.  But when you stay at home and your husband is in ministry anything involving $ is a major decisions.  Six months later we are SO happy (and thankful) we have them.
On with the PICS!!
Ben got home from two weeks of travel, to say Mason missed him is an understatement.
A trip to Sam's to get some staples.  Lincoln is almost always shoe-less, he did have some of the ministars from Target, but outgrew them.  It's summertime, and pudgy baby feet are cute so it's ok.
My favorite summertime anytime salad.  Ben and I finished off almost the whole bowl.  YUM!
Can of corn drained, diced green peppers, diced onion, shredded cheddar cheese, mayo & chili cheese fritos=DELISH.  My friend Angie gave me this recipe, I'm forever grateful.  She also said you can throw in some chicken and call it dinner.
I HATE when my baby is sick.
My little artist, painting while big brother is at kinder camp and little brother naps.
Hit up happy hour for half-priced slushes.  The slush machine was on the fritz so we got ice cream & and Coke Zero instead.
Had craft night last night at my good friend Jen's.  We embellished hats.  My flower is snapped on so I can change it out.  I'll look super cute sportin' it on The Fourth.  Along with crafting we also ate. A LOT.  I should have snapped a pic of the spread, but let me just tell you what was there.  PW's Cinnamon Rolls, choco/oreo/brownie bar goodness, cream cheese/salsa dip, cupcakes, lemon bars, trail mix, and fruit dip.  And yummy coffee with Almond Joy creamer.
My festive toes.

Craft Night Revisited

So I already told you about all our shirts we made on craft night.  Now you get to see all the Valentine's wreaths we did.
A few of my friends couldn't make it because there was winter weather headed our way-that actually didn't get to us till the next day, booo.  So the girls did their wreaths at home, I think they both got help from their little ones.  Mother-daughter fun!
Emily did a felt heart wreath.  You can find the tutorial over on The Idea Room.
Erin made a Scrappy Heart Wreath, found the tutorial on Living w/ Lindsay.  I love the two shades of pink and perfect matching ribbon.
Hilary was at craft night and did the same felt wreath.  Isn't cool how she and Emily used the same method but they still look different?!  I'm sure it has to do with the size of circles you use and how tightly you place them.  Both turned out great.
Here's Amber's wreath (sorry I didn't get completed pic), she used the same Scrappy Wreath tutorial. Instead of a heart she did a round wreath.  She used three different fabrics and when it was done even embellished it with a fake flower.  It was so pretty.
Here's mine, of course I had to go against the grain and not do a wreath. :)  Mostly cause I had this plain frame on hand so I didn't have to buy anything.  Free crafts can't be beat.  I cut my felt circles and put a dot of hot glue in the center and placed them on the frame kinda bunched together.
See here:
A pretty flower border begins to appear.  Super easy, with a great outcome.  After I finished my frame, I used the Cricut and did a freezer paper stencil "love" and painted it on some muslin.  Now I just can't decide where to hang my new "love."

Freezer Paper Stencil-Cricut Style

Thursday night we had the third Girls’ Craft Night.  I’m a slacker, cause I really haven’t posted much on Craft Night before.  The first Craft Night we had was back in November.  We did Freezer Paper Stencil Shirts.  There are numerous tutorials online, one of the first ones I came across was Dana’s.  Many shirts were made that night and it was super fun.  In December we made ornament wreaths, well I went against the grain and did a topiary.  This time around the planned project was Valentine’s wreaths, and shirts again.  So I’m devoting this post to the shirts, cause they turned out so great (not the wreaths didn’t), but doing shirts is so fun.  And a GREAT cheap and EASY project to do so your kids can have custom cool clothes.  Not to mention, our new method with the Cricut, really expands the possibilities of what you can create, and makes it pretty effortless.  No more tracing, cutting, pain in the rear placing the design. Like this shirt Jen did, I mean it may look simple, but cutting all that out and figuring what needed cut, what didn’t need cut, piecing things together, it took FOREVER.  Thankfully the finished shirt looks AWESOME!

But look at all the things we did with the Cricuts.  Much less stress involved :)

Donna did a retro reverse bus for her little man.
DSCN2995Her daughter got this beautiful butterfly shirt with detailing on the sleeve.  Something like that would have been impossible to cut out by hand.
DSCN3002donnaShe made herself this flower shirt-she was one busy woman.
DSCN3003 My new friend Amber made this for her little girl.  Love the mix of pink and white.
jenshirt Jen made these for her kids.  I hope she post pics of the shirts on facebook soon, so I can steal them to post on my blog. :)  Don’t know if you can see but the guitars have hearts on them and say Love and Rock.
20132_302491599251_707424251_4507955_2604513_n I totally stole Hilary’s LOVE shirt off her facebook.  Love the colors!

And last but not least my shirt I made for Brooke.  I chose the same design Hilary had used.  I was happy that Donna had this design in her Cricut collection, cause it’s exactly what I was picturing.loveshirtI made hers a little fancy, by appliquéing the black heart on it.
loveshirtdetail   She wore it today with her new black, pink and grey bow.  She was one styling kiddo.
Thanks Donna and Tyann for bringing your Cricuts!!
Here they are hard to work.
