Year in PREview

Instead of doing a review of the projects I did in 2009 I thought it'd be fun to preview my ever growing projects list.  To help me along I'll be sifting through a TON of bookmarked tutorials, starred google reader posts and my new 2010 Sewing Calendar (Christmas gift from mama T).

::click on the pics for direct link to the tutorials::

I saw these on So You Think You're Crafty and instantly LOVED them.  I've got a collection of Target bags from Christmas shopping just waiting to be repurposed.

This super cute scarf, also found on SYTYC.  I know I just made a new scarf but with 9 degree weather, having one more won't hurt. :)

What a great way to dress up a plain T!

Brooke for sure needs a Petals Galore Bag.

Now that I have my new walking foot, i'm going to venture out and start doing more sewing with knit.  How about this cute repurpose?

And while you're at it just go ahead and look at ALL of her tutorials.  She's great and her tutorials are as well, too many of them are on my list to post them all.

I want to make a whole huge collection of felt play food.  I better get on it though, cause I want it to be Brooke's birthday present.  Um yeah, her birthday is less than two weeks away, I REALLY really better get on it.

As if doing a set of felt food isn't a big enough project for Little Miss's b-day, I'm also going to make a felt playhouse for her.  I think I've decided to do "Brooke's Bakery."  Here's my inspiration (from etsy),

For a while I've been wanting to make a perpetual calendar, aren't they cool?!  I'd love to expand my paper crafting skills.  I'm crossing my fingers that I can win a starter kit over at Mod Podge Rocks.

Some more projects I want to start-and complete :)

  • Car organizer
  • Hot/Cold Rice Bag
  • More refashioning for ME
  • Mei Tai Sling
  • Luggage Tags
  • Curtains for my living room
  • A cool wreath or two
  • Home decor stuff-since I basically have none
That's the start of my list, seems like a lot to accomplish, but hopefully this year I can be better focused and organized with my sewing.
Happy Sewing New Year!

Tis the Season to Drink Starbucks

If you know me you know that I love me some Starbucks.  I have Starbucks every morning.  No, I'm not a millionaire.  But I do have an espresso machine.  And it is the best Christmas gift I ever got (well maybe it's second now to my Touch I got last year).  I highly suggest getting an espresso machine if you don't already have one.  Mine is a Krups, its held up great after three years of using it nearly everyday-sometimes twice a day.  We get Starbucks beans usually at Target cause recently the bags have had a coupon for free tall coffee printed on the side.  Sam's Club has big bottles of 25 ounce flavored syrup for like $4.  So for the price of a Grande we get the syrup and it usually last about two weeks.  I'd say that's a good deal!
But if we do have some extra cash laying around, we still like get treat ourselves.  So let me run a list of my favorites.

  • Caramel Macchiato, my former favorite.  But that was before I really branched out. It's still quite yummy and is super easy to make at home. Just add espresso, steamed milk, vanilla syrup and caramel to your cup. Delish!
  • White Mocha, yummo! This is the one that bumped the Caramel Macchiato out of the no.1 spot.  I tried to buy the syrup once at Starbucks, cause I knew in the past they had sold it.  They stopped selling it.  But the girl did tell me I could buy it on the "black market" on ebay.  To which the other guy working said, "don't tell her that."  But yeah it's true.  Some of the BIN prices are $43!!! It's good, but not that good.
  • Pumpkin Spice. A fall favorite.
  • Peppermint Mocha.  A Christmas favorite.  Even better though is the Peppermint White Mocha, it's heaven on earth.
  • Caramel Brulee Latte.  Pretty sure this is new this year, and it is so good.
Do you love the Starbucks pic?  I stole it from Keli at Kidnapped by Suburbia.  I just LOVE it!  She's a great photographer (although she's humble and says she's still learning) and I want to be her when I grow up.  She's awesome with textures and post-processing.  And she's super creative too!  Hop on over to her site and check out some of her tutorials.

Changes Complete...For now

So I changed the layout again. I figured out how to get rid of the header (sort of). It's not gone completely, but you can't see it, can you. If you go over to Ben's blog you'll see what the original template for what this page looks like. And now you can see all of the things that I changed. The basic skeleton is the same I just changed most colors and some other things.

I have been doing lots of craft things lately. The biggest project has to be me making diapers. Yep, cloth diapers. I've made five so far. They've worked pretty good. I need to get some more material and make some more. They are called a pocket diaper. They have a pocket in the back where you slide in whatever absorbent thing you want. I am currently using microfiber towels sew in thirds. I think the next ones that I make might be all-in-ones. Meaning the soaker is sew into the diaper, no pocket to stuff. We'll see how it goes. I just want to save some money, I'm so stinking tired of forking out so much $$ on diapers. These are great though cause the wash up and you just use 'em again. Child after stinky child. We don't have the second stinky child yet but some day we will and hopefully I'll have a big stash of cloth diapers that are already paid for. No more running to Wal-Mart at 9.30 at night when you realize you only have two diapers left. I'll keep you posted on this venture goes.

Changes

So I have been trying to make the blog a little prettier. It looks better I think, but in trying to edit some parts in HTML (which I know nothing about) I can't figure out how to get rid of the the header. I designed the graphic header in Microsoft Digital Image (Christmas gift) and inserted it as a picture. So now I want to get rid of the other header but can't. I have even tried to figure out how to just color it white, to fake getting rid of it. Still no luck. Oh well. Let me know what you think.
