A Hat for Momma

I saw this tutorial on At Second Street, and knew I wanted to make one.  It reminded me so much of the hat my mom got me at TJ Maxx last year.
I love that hat!
I had some black/white fabric left over from this scarf (which btw, I redid with elastic thread finally, I just had to use my old Singer instead of my Brother) and I thought, it would make a super cute hat.  It was meant to be.
I feel really accomplished after completing this project.  Making a hat seemed so intimidating, but really it went together very easily.  I adjusted the construction of it a bit since I wasn't using knit.  I will for sure be making more.  My mom gave me a wool sweater this weekend to refashion, I think part of it will become a new hat.
You need one of these hats, they are way cuter than a baseball cap, but serve the same purpose: hiding dirty hair and yesterday's makeup you're still wearing.  When does a mom of a newborn have time to shower? :)
More hat projects I hope to complete:
